| Hey guys just wanted to see if anyone knew how to help with this, or had any ideas:
When the laptop is turned on it gives the error message of starting in safe mode like usually happens if a comp is shut down with more than one user on at a time but there is an additional piece at the top that says, "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1) Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2) Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3) Click "Repair your computer." After the first time this message appeared she followed the directions, and when she inserted the Microsoft Installation disc, nothing happened she just got the same screen again. So I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix it without having to buy a new laptop, because I knew that you guys would have a way better clue on how to fix these things than I would have.
P.S. It's an ASUS UX50 with no aftermarket add-ons (not entirely sure on specs.) So if you have any ideas, all posts would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

| If you received a windows reinstall disk then insert it in the drive and boot the system. It should auto try to boot off the CD, and likely be a hit any key to boot from the CD message appear on the screen. Hit a key so you boot from the CD. When the menu appears you should select your language, hit next, select Repair your computer, then there should be a repair startup option.
Try that first before you reinstall windows as Moonpie said above. |
